O primeiro foi Unmade Beds (1976), uma versão new wave dos filmes de Godard, com Debbie interpretando a personagem Blondie, simplesmente, atuando ao lado do protagonista Rico (Duncan Hannah)
Em Downtown 81 (1981), Debbie surge interpretando uma fada madrinha meio punk
A fada vem ajudar o protagonista, Jean-Michel Basquiat, o lendário artista plástico, vivendo ele mesmo
Em 82, Debbie tornou-se um ícone do cinema ao estrelar Videodrome, a Síndrome do Vídeo, de ninguém menos que David Cronenberg

Anos depois, o filme virou musical da Broadway, e gerou um novo filme em 2007, com Michelle Pfeiffer no papel que foi de Debbie Harry
Em Contos da Escuridão (90), Debbie vive uma espécie de bruxa moderna, que prende um garoto numa jaula para comê-lo no jantar
